The first big thing we did was to go up in the John Hancock Observatory. This is the view north. 

We took the El in to downtown, then of course, Ben started snapping pictures of the tall buildings. 

On our way to Chicago, we drove by the Iowa State Capital in Des Moines. Interesting architecture for a state capital, I thought. 

A couple of days ago, Ben and I walked to the Rosedale Memorial Arch. It was built as a memorial to Rosedalians who served in World War I. (Rosedale is the name of the section of KC, Kansas, where we live.) There's also a great view of KC downtown! 

Chicago

Tomorrow we're off to Chicago for the Easter weekend with Set and Kristine! If I have time, I'll post pictures each night, but I'm not promising anything. We're so excited!

I planted bulbs in the fall after we moved to this house. This is the first daffodil to bloom. It was so exciting! I've never succeeded in growing anything before! So, drunk with elation, yesterday I went and got herbs and a planter and potting soil to try my hand at more! And I'll plant a zucchini later this year when it's time. I'm very excited!

Have I mentioned that Ben got a scooter in January? He loves to ride it! It's a great second vehicle just for short trips and to work. Doesn't go very fast, but it's fine for city streets and gets about 100 miles to the gallon. He says it's a blast to ride. :) 

Happy Birthday, Ben!!!

Today is Ben's birthday! I gave him the complete Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, so it's been on all day. :) I've never seen any of them, so it's been an education for me.

We were going to go to Lincoln this morning to see Ben's family, but the weather here was supposed to be horrible (it wasn't), but it was pretty bad in Lincoln. His mom, dad, and brother all called yesterday to try to talk us out of going! Anyway, it worked; we stayed here. He's going to have some guys over to play RISK tonight. I'm making butterscotch brownies (that's what he wanted instead of birthday cake) and I got caramel swirl ice cream. And that will be his wonderful birthday celebration. :)

My First Day Post Full-time job

Well, I'm done. I'm officially NOT an employee of Nazarene Headquarters. I don't have anything really philosophical to say. Just that I'm happy. and Ben's happy. We spent the morning together. I went shopping this afternoon. Now I have to clean the house. It's been a good day.
